Toyota is stepping up its electric vehicle game in China by launching the new Toyota bZ5 electric SUV on June 10, in partnership with FAW. This model is built on Toyota’s advanced e-TNGA platform and promises competitive pricing along with modern technology and impressive driving range.

The bZ5 comes in multiple versions with different ranges and features:
- Standard Range: 550 km (CLTC) range priced under 130,000 yuan (~IDR 294 million)
- L2 Driving Assistance Version: Also 550 km range with advanced driver assistance, priced under 160,000 yuan (~IDR 363 million)
- Long Range Variant: Up to 630 km (CLTC) for extended driving distance
Powertrain and Battery
The bZ5 is uniquely powered by BYD’s Blade battery technology, known for its power and safety. This SUV utilizes a BYD made FinDreams 200kW (268hp) electric motor, with reliable power delivery and excellent acceleration performance.

The bZ5 features a unique “hammerhead shark” style front, sleek fastback design, and hidden door handles for a modern look. Key dimensions include:
