Key Products and Operations
Gotion focuses on a broad line of products which serve the electric vehicle and energy storage industry. These include:
- LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate) batteries
- NCM (Nickel Cobalt Manganese) batteries
- Battery cells and packs
- Battery Management Systems (BMS)
- Energy storage units
These products are vital for electric vehicles, commercial vehicles, heavy equipment, two-wheelers, and other electric-powered vehicles.
Gotion’s Presence in Indonesia
Gotion has established a strong presence in Indonesia with two operational factories located in:
- Cikarang, Bekasi
- The Cikarang facility is expected to be completed by 2024.
- Klapanunggal, Bogor, West Java
- The Bogor factory is scheduled to begin operations in 2023.
According to Lin Wenxiang, the Sales and Marketing Manager of PT Gotion Indonesia Materials, these local factories provide significant advantages. He said, “We have a local (factory) here, there is a technical group, R&D group. For local technical support, our consumer support is more efficient.”
These factories will also allow Gotion to develop local technical expertise and strengthen its position in the Indonesian market.

Future Plans: Battery Cell Production in Indonesia
Currently, Gotion Indonesia is focused on assembling battery cells into packs for use in electric vehicles of several brands. However, the company has plans to move beyond assembly and begin producing battery cells locally by 2027.
In an interview, Lin Wenxiang explained, “Later in 2027, we will process the local cell production in Indonesia. Not sending from China, direct production from there (Cikarang and Bogor factories). We will start in 2027, from downstream to upstream, all local in Indonesia.”
This strategic shift aims to bring the production process from downstream (battery packs) to upstream (battery cells) within the country, allowing Gotion to fully integrate its operations in Indonesia and reduce reliance on imported components.

Conclusion
Gotion’s in 2027 is to put into place large scale battery cell production in Indonesia which is a big step forward in terms of building out the local electric vehicle supply chain. Also in line with Indonesia’s great interest in clean and sustainable transport solutions which is a focus area for the government, Gotion is putting together a plan to produce at home battery cells and other parts which in turn will position the company to better serve the ever growing demand for electric vehicles in the region.
