A Nostalgic Highlight at IIMS 2025
A thrilling feature of the Indonesian Classic Car Enthusiasts Association (PPMKI) stand is the breathtaking 1971 BMW E9. The existence of this classic coupe reinforces the idea that the 1970s were a period of automotive golden age. Owing to its razor-sharp profile, symbolic horn mirrors, and thin kidney grille, the BMW E9 is still an eternal work of art that attracts car lovers everywhere.
A Legacy of Performance
First launched in October 1968, the BMW E9 took over from the 2000 C/CS model. The initial model, the 2800 CS, was fitted with a 2,800 cc inline-six engine that produced 170 hp. Its replacement, the BMW 3.0 CS, which was introduced in 1971, had a 3,000 cc carbureted engine that produced 180 hp, a 10 hp boost from the earlier model.
BMW continued to expand its performance series with the introduction of the 3.0 CSi later in the year. That model came with an electronic fuel injection system, raising power to 200 hp. All were fitted with a 4-speed manual transmission and a disc brake on all four corners, further solidifying their high-performance and driving dynamics reputation.
