Jakarta – PT Chery Sales Indonesia has unveiled a future car inspired by the leopard. According to Zeng Shuo, Country Director of PT Chery Sales Indonesia, the concept is based on two key words: Leopard and Passion. Globally, Chery has announced this new model with the acronym Lepas.

Evolution from the Tiggo Series
Previously, Chery introduced models inspired by the tiger, such as the Tiggo Series. However, Zeng Shuo emphasized that the Leopard concept follows a different philosophy.
“Leopard is more elegant, more technical, and also very fast with low energy consumption,” said Zeng Shuo during the launch event in Jakarta on Thursday (March 6, 2025).
High-tech and Coming Launch
Despite unveiling no advanced technical details, the Leopard car model will be designed on the highest platform owned by Chery. The automobile comes in a variety of powertrains to be used on three different designs:
- Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) – Fueling while saving fuel to the extent of 44.5% at maximum.
- Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) – Supporting an up-to-1,400 km reach for a complete battery charge, alongside a gas tank.
- Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) – Can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in only 3 seconds.

Flexible Seating Options
The Leopard will offer different seating configurations, including 5-seater, 6-seater, and 7-seater variants, making it a versatile option for various customer needs.
Different from Tiggo Series
Zeng Shuo clarified that the Leopard series will have a distinct identity compared to the Tiggo series.
“Tiggo will continue to use its current technology because it is already well-developed and benefits from economies of scale,” he explained. “With Leopard, we want to create a new platform.”

Chery’s Increasing Success in Indonesia
Besides this new idea, Chery has also unveiled another new large SUV model. The company is continually consolidating its position in Indonesia. Due to higher sales, Chery became the 12th best-seller car brand in Indonesia and upgraded from its last year’s 13th rank.
Through the Leopard concept, Chery targets to introduce energy-efficient, high-performance, and technologically driven cars to Indonesia. Additional information will be made available in the near future, particularly with the anticipated world debut in April 2025.
