In the first part of this year 2025, BYD has hit something big by selling almost a million cars. That’s 60 percent more compared to the same period last year.

Sales Breakdown
- BYD sold 416,388 pure electric cars in first quarter of 2025 and the sales have grown by 39% as compared with the corresponding period of last year, and this vehicles contribute to about 42% of sales.
- Plug In Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEVs) accounted for 569,710 units sold. This represents a 76% increase over the sales of last year and makes up 57.8% of sales.
Overseas Expansion
BYD’s international presence has strengthened considerably, with overseas sales reaching 206,084 units in Q1 2025—a 111% increase from the same period last year. This growth underscores the brand’s expanding appeal beyond its domestic market.
Comparison with Competitors
In the same quarter, Tesla reported delivery of 336,681 vehicles, marked the decline from the expectations of analysts and the fall from the previous year. This is the position ahead of Tesla in global sales for the quarter, which highlights its competitive edge in the electric vehicle market.

Many elements have contributed to the impressive performance of BYD:
