Seres of Indonesia: The New Player
Seres officially debuted to the Indonesian people in May 2023 during the Periklindo Electric Vehicle Show (PEVS) 2023. Seres’ first electric vehicle, the Seres E1, was also launched during this event. The Seres E1 took inspiration from the Mini EV concept that first appeared in 2022 prior to being featured at a number of large auto shows.
The E1 is a small, nimble car tailored for city centers, and it is perfect for urban dwellers. Later in the year, in August 2023, the E1 was officially launched by Seres at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS).
Currently, the Seres E1 is the only model available in Indonesia. It is marketed as an affordable, eco-friendly option for consumers looking for a small electric car for daily use.

Seres E1: The First Model in Indonesia

Seres E1 is a compact and efficient electric car. It exists in two forms: the E1 B-Type (the standard model) and the E1 L-Type (the premium model). Both forms are small, with a length of 3,030 mm, width of 1,495 mm, height of 1,640 mm, and wheelbase of 1,960 mm. The E1 is designed to be easy to maneuver in busy city streets while providing enough space for daily activities.
Battery and Range
The E1 is driven by a Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery, which has IP67 certification; that is, it is resistant to water and dust. The two models possess varying battery capacity:
- E1 B-Type: 13.8 kWh battery, with a range of 180 km.
- E1 L-Type: 16.8 kWh battery, providing a range of 220 km.
Charging times vary slightly, with the B-Type requiring 3.5 to 4 hours to charge from 10% to 90%, and the L-Type needing 4 to 4.5 hours.
Performance
Both the E1 B-Type and L-Type are equipped with a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor. The B-Type has a motor producing 25 kW of power, while the L-Type offers 30 kW. Both variants have a torque of 100 Nm and use an automatic transmission.
An interesting feature of the E1 is its regenerative braking, which recycles energy during deceleration to recharge the battery.
Safety and Comfort Features
Seres has loaded the E1 with a host of safety and comfort features to provide a better driving experience. Some of the main features are:
- Seat Belt Reminder
- Isofix child seat mounts
- Rear Parking Camera
- Parking Sensors
- Electric Parking Brake with Auto Hold (L-Type)
- Pedestrian Warning Sound
- Hill Hold Control
- Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) and Electronic Stability Control (ESC)
- Airbags
The L-Type model has more features such as Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist.
Pricing
Seres E1 is competitively priced, which makes it a desirable choice for an affordable electric car in Indonesia:
- E1 B-Type: IDR 189 million (OTR Jakarta)
- E1 L-Type: IDR 219 million (OTR Jakarta)
With its affordable price, the Seres E1 provides a great starting point for customers who want to transition to electric mobility.

The Seres 7 is an Extended Range Electric Vehicle (EREV), combining a 1.5-liter turbocharged petrol engine with a 40 kWh battery. It offers a range of 165 km on electric power alone, and up to 1,050 km when the petrol engine is used.
Seres 9 Concept

The Seres 9 Concept is a large luxury electric SUV featuring the latest technology, such as AI functions, intelligent projection headlamps, and air suspension.
