To manage the heavy traffic during the Eid al-Fitr 2025 (Lebaran) return period, the Indonesian National Police Traffic Corps (Korlantas Polri) will enforce a one-way traffic system on the Trans-Java Toll Road.

One-Way Scheme Details
- Start Date: Sunday, 6 April 2025
- Time: From 09:00 AM (WIB)
- Route: From KM 414 Kalikangkung Toll Gate (Semarang) to KM 70 Cikampek Utama Toll Gate (West Java)
- Purpose: To reduce traffic congestion as people return from their hometowns to cities like Jakarta
Statement from Authorities
Inspector General Agus Suryonugroho, Head of the National Police Traffic Corps, explained that this one-way plan is part of their strategy to keep traffic flowing smoothly during the peak return days.
“The one-way will officially start Sunday morning at 09:00 WIB, with a flag-off ceremony by the National Police Chief, the Minister, and other officials,” Agus told reporters on Friday, April 4.

Local One-Way Already Running
Before the national one-way is fully in place, a local one-way has already been applied:
- Current One-Way: From KM 188 Cipali Toll Road to KM 70 Cikampek Utama
- Planned Extension: It will be expanded from KM 246 to KM 188, continuing to KM 70
“This will help traffic from the east — Pejagan, Brebes, Tegal, Kalikangkung, and Semarang — to flow better toward Jakarta,” said Agus.
Contraflow on Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road
In addition to the one-way, contraflow traffic engineering will be applied on the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road to handle vehicle surges.
- If vehicle flow reaches 5,500 vehicles/hour (based on KM 71 radar), contraflow lane 1 will be opened.
- If it hits 6,400 vehicles/hour, contraflow lanes 2 or 3 will be activated to ease traffic from the east.
Tips for Travelers
- Plan Ahead: Avoid peak times and follow traffic updates.
- Follow Rules: Obey signs and directions from officers on the road.
- Drive Safely: Take breaks, check your vehicle, and stay alert during the long drive.

Conclusion
The one-way traffic system on the Trans-Java Toll Road from KM 414 Kalikangkung to KM 70 Cikampek Utama on April 6, 2025, is a major step to reduce traffic jams during the Lebaran return flow. The National Police, along with other authorities, are also ready to use contraflow lanes if traffic volume increases. These traffic engineering strategies aim to keep travelers safe and ensure smoother journeys back to Jakarta.
