With its futuristic design, impressive features, and local production, this EV promises to redefine driving experiences.
Launch and Availability
The much-anticipated All New Hyundai Kona Electric is expected to launch in Indonesia in 2024. Hyundai Motor Asia Pacific Headquarters’ President, Young Tack Lee, hinted at this development in late 2023. Following this, PT Hyundai Motors Indonesia (HMID) began showcasing the model, starting with its debut at the 2024 Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS) in February. By June, HMID had opened the ordering window for this electric SUV, with prices starting at IDR 500 million.
Advantages of the All New Hyundai Kona Electric

Its clean, aerodynamic profile has earned it several accolades, including the Car of the Year Awards and Best Small Electric SUV for Families. The vehicle features Pixelated Seamless Horizon Lamps across the front and rear, twin headlamps with integrated Full LED projector lights, and body-coloured wheel arches. These design elements give the Kona Electric a bold and dynamic appearance, making it a standout on the road.
2. Comfortable and Roomy
Designed with the user in mind, the Kona Electric offers a spacious and comfortable cabin. This is essential for Indonesian consumers who prioritise comfort when choosing a vehicle. The car is equipped with Hyundai Bluelink and Hyundai SmartSense, ensuring a safe and convenient driving experience. These features have contributed to the Kona Electric winning the Best Compact SUV at the 2024 Fleet News Awards.
3. Easy Maintenance
Maintenance is a significant concern for many car owners, and the Kona Electric addresses this with ease. It has been awarded the 2024 Vincentric Best Value in America Awards for being low-maintenance and cost-effective. This makes it an attractive option for consumers looking for an economical and hassle-free EV.
Variants and Specifications
The All New Hyundai Kona Electric will be available in four variants: Signature Long Range, Signature Standard Range, Prime Long Range, and Prime Standard Range. Each variant will feature different battery capacities, affecting the maximum distance traveled. The range spans from 400 km to 600 km, catering to various driving needs.

Hyundai offers a diverse palette for the Kona Electric, including Optic White Matte, Creamy White Pearl, Creamy White Pearl Two-tone, Titan Gray Metallic, Magnetic Silver Metallic, Magnetic Silver Metallic Two-tone, Dragon Red Pearl, Dragon Red Pearl Two-tone, and Midnight Black Pearl. Local Production and Sustainability
One of the standout features of the All New Hyundai Kona Electric is its local production. The model will be produced at the Hyundai factory in Bekasi, West Java, managed by PT Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Indonesia (HMMI). This makes it Hyundai’s first electric vehicle to be produced domestically, using locally made batteries.
Euisun Chung, Executive Chairman of Hyundai Motor Group, expressed pride in this achievement. “I am very proud that the Kona Electric made in Indonesia is also powered by batteries produced in Indonesia, as a business collaboration between Hyundai Motor Group and LG Energy Solution,” he said at the inauguration of the electric vehicle battery factory in Karawang, West Java.
