I really enjoyed test driving the Hyundai Ioniq 5 at PEVS 2025 — it felt super premium and smooth to drive. The ride was powerful yet super comfortable, and the interior is packed with modern, high-tech features that make it feel like you’re in a futuristic lounge.

Design: A Combination of Retro and Futuristic
The Ioniq 5’s design is a tip to Hyundai’s 1970s Pony Coupe, that which has very sharp lines, pixel LED lights, and a clamshell hood. Also built on Hyundai’s Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) the Ioniq 5 has a large interior and long wheelbase which in turn provides plenty of space for passengers and cargo.
Performance: Power Meets Efficiency
The Ioniq 5 is available in two battery options in Indonesia:
- 58 kWh (Standard Range)
- 72.6 kWh (Long Range)
During our test drive, we experienced the Long Range variant equipped with all-wheel drive (AWD). The instant torque delivery was impressive, allowing the car to accelerate smoothly and swiftly. The regenerative braking system was responsive, enhancing the driving experience in both city traffic and open roads.
Interior space is large and tech oriented
Within, the Ioniq 5 features a futuristic yet minimalist interior. The sliding center console and flat floor help create a generous and versatile cabin. Sustainable materials are used throughout, consistent with Hyundai’s sustainability focus. Key interior features include:
- 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system
- 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster
- Wireless Apple CarPlay & Android Auto
- Bose premium audio system (Long Range variant)

Charging and Range: Ready for the Road
The Long Range variant has a range of up to 481 km (WLTP). In terms of charging, Hyundai’s 800V ultra fast charging technology which is a feature of the Ioniq 5 enables you to go from 10% to 80% in 18 minutes via a DC fast charger. This is very much a plus point for long distance travel in Indonesia.
