    Types of Petrol in Indonesia

Petrol, or gasoline, is by far the most common fuel for cars here in Indonesia; a kind of fuel that comes in various grades, each which has been engineered specifically for particular engine types and performance. You can find these main grades at gas stations within the country.

    1. Pertalite (RON 90)

    • What is it? Pertalite, it’s a different matter altogether from Premium gas: its RON isn’t just 90 but a bit higher; taking care of the engine better and giving you more on fuel economy as well.
    • Who is this for? Pertalite shines brilliantly for modern cars carrying medium compression engines and is favored highly by Indonesian drivers owing to the fact that it’s both cost effective and efficient.
    • Price: Pertalite ranges for roughly IDR 10,000 to IDR 11,000 per liter.
    • Brands: Pertalite is strictly sold by Pertamina, no other company carries this premium product, and Pertamina is a leading state company for oil and gas in Indonesia.

    2. Pertamax (RON 92)

    • What is it? Pertamax is higher octane fuel with a RON of 92. It helps for better burning which equates to better engine performance and lower emissions too.
    • Who is this for? Pertamax is devised for high performance cars and engines with high compression. In addition, it suits turbocharged engines.
    • Price Range: Pertamax is priced roughly between 12,500 and 13,500 IDR per liter.
    • Brands: Pertamina is chief provider of Pertamax.

    Types of Diesel in Indonesia

Diesel fuel is widely used for buses, trucks, and some passenger vehicles, particularly diesel-engine vehicles. In Indonesia, there are two principal types of diesel.

    1. Solar (Standard Diesel)

    • What is it? This fuel called solar is typical in Indonesia. It is a low-cost choice for diesel vehicles.
    • Who is it for? Solar is the best for the vehicles, which are the most used in transport such as small trucks, cars, and buses. An essential characteristic of Solar is that it is manufactured at mid-block 3D. This is why it is marked as Pertamina product.
    • Price Range: Solar usually is sold at a price ranging from 6,800 to 7,500 per liter.
    • Brands: The Solar that Pertamina manufactures is really good. They are the only brand of Solar in Indonesia. It is actually my forcedly saving place.

    2. Dexlite (Premium Diesel)

    • What is it? Dexlite is (a) premium diesel fuel produced with a cetane number higher than the expected one, hence, it burns more completely, with lower emissions at the end.
    • Who is it for? Dexlite is sui (allee for the latest diesel engines such as those in SUVs and luxury cars.
    • Price Range: The price of Dexlite is about IDR 10,000 to 11,000 per liter.

    Other Fuel Brands in Indonesia

Though Pertamina leads the Indonesian fuel market, there are also other brands providing top-notch petrol and diesel. They usually provide competitive prices as well as added perks. Here are some of the prominent ones:

    1. Shell

    • Petrol Varieties:
      • Shell Super (RON 92): Unlike Pertamax, Shell Super specifically suits the car that demands vast HP with its high-performance spirit.
      • Shell V-Power (RON 95 and RON 98): The offered Shell products are Shell’s superior quality gasolines including the ones that improve engine performance and keep engines clean.
    • Diesel Options:
      • Shell Diesel Extra: This unique diesel type is available on the market at premium levels and has the advantage of having additives that contain a mixture providing better engine performance and reduced emissions.
    • Price Range: Shell gasoline is usually more expensive than that of Pertamina by a couple of rupiahs, and it is found at the rate of IDR 15,000 to IDR 16,000 per liter for Shell V-Power.

    2. BP (British Petroleum)

    • Petrol Options:
      • BP 90 (RON 90): The Pertalite can also be refilled with a BP 90 which is available on the market and is there for modern vehicles of average- breathing engines.
      • BP Ultimate (RON 92 and RON 95): Actually, the BP’s premium petrol range of products is made for high- performance and luxury vehicles.

Key Differences Between Petrol and Diesel

    1. Engine Compatibility:
      • Gasoline works in engines that use spark plugs, while diesel is for engines that rely on compression to ignite. Make sure you put the right fuel in your car based on what kind of engine it has.
    2. Fuel Efficiency:
      • Diesel motors consume less fuel compared to petrol motors, and diesel is hence ideal for extended journeys.
    3. Performance:
      • Petrol engines are highway and acceleration friendly, whereas diesel engines are torquier and truck-friendly.
    4. Environmental Impact:
      • Petrol engines produce more particulates and nitrogen oxides but less carbon dioxide emission. Diesel engines actually produce more carbon dioxide. The high-octane fuels, however, such as Pertamax Turbo and Dexlite, are green-friendly type formulation.

Choosing the Right Fuel: Some Guidelines

    • Check Your Owner’s Manual: You should always check your car manual to find out what fuel is recommended.
    • Consider Your Driving Style: If you drive on lots of highways regularly, diesel will be more affordable. Petrol is ideal for city driving.
    • Weight Price Against Performance: The high-octane gas pumps are expensive, but they will put your engine in the best operating condition and even make it last longer.

By taking these steps to heart, you can keep your car running , save money, and reduce your impact on the environment. Safe travels!
