Jakarta — PT Toyota Astra Motor (TAM) continues strengthening its commitment to electrification by expanding its Privilege Charging Spot and Privilege Parking Spot facilities. The latest addition is at Gandaria City Mall, South Jakarta, opened on Friday (5/7). This expansion brings the total number of Toyota Ultra Fast Charging spots to four, including existing locations at ASHTA Mall Jakarta, Rest Area KM 456A, and Rest Area KM 695A. Furthermore, TAM now offers 115 charging points across public areas and dealer locations, enhancing the EV charging infrastructure and ensuring Toyota Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) and Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) owners have ample charging options.
“Charging spots are built so that BEV and PHEV Toyota and Lexus customers do not need to worry about range anxiety or running out of battery power before reaching their destination,” explained Anton Jimmi Suwandy, Marketing Director of PT Toyota Astra Motor (TAM). “Our facilities at official Toyota dealers aim to cover urban areas, while similar amenities at Trans Java Toll Road rest areas support intercity travel. We also provide Privilege Charging Spots and Parking Spots at major malls in Jakarta to cater to lifestyle areas. TAM will continue to expand these facilities in strategic locations to reach more electrified vehicle customers.”
Expanding Charging Infrastructure for Enhanced Mobility
Implementing its Multi Pathway Strategy, PT TAM offers a comprehensive range of electrified vehicles (xEV), including Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEV), Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV), and Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEV). This strategy aligns with Toyota’s goal of achieving carbon neutrality. The provision of extensive charging infrastructure in high-traffic locations supports Toyota’s BEV and PHEV users, providing peace of mind and ensuring uninterrupted journeys.
The strategic location of official Toyota dealers makes accessing free charging spot facilities convenient for customers. Currently, 111 charging points are available across various regions, including 16 in Sumatra, 85 in Java, 1 in Kalimantan, 7 in Sulawesi, and 2 in Bali and Nusa Tenggara. This network covers 34% of the 329 official Toyota dealers throughout Indonesia. Each outlet features one AC Charger unit with a power of 22 kW, while three locations—Nasmoco Bantul Yogyakarta, Nasmoco Majapahit Semarang, and Dunia Barusa Banda Aceh—offer DC Ultra Fast Charging (UFC) with powers of 120 kW and 150 kW.
To support intercity travel and extend the range of BEVs and PHEVs, Toyota operates UFC units at Rest Area KM 456A Salatiga-Surabaya and Rest Area KM 695A Jombang-Surabaya on the Trans Java Toll Road. These facilities, developed in collaboration with PLN, include one Ultra Fast Charging unit equipped with three types of gun chargers: CCS2, CHAdeMO, and AC Type 2 (22 kW), ensuring compatibility with a wide range of vehicles.
Privilege Charging and Parking at Gandaria City Mall
Recognizing that most electric vehicle users drive primarily in urban areas, TAM has established Privilege Charging Spot and Privilege Parking Spot facilities at Gandaria City Mall Jakarta. This addition follows the implementation of similar facilities at ASHTA Mall Jakarta. Gandaria City Mall was chosen for its environmental focus and central location.
The Privilege Charging Spot is an exclusive recharging facility for Toyota and Lexus BEVs and PHEVs. It includes one UFC 120 kW unit with three types of gun chargers (CCS2, CHAdeMO, and AC Type 2) and one AC Charger Type 2 22 kW unit, all available for free use while customers shop or relax at the mall.
The Privilege Parking Spot also comprises three dedicated parking areas for Toyota and Lexus electrified vehicles. This facility ensures convenient access and recharging, with staff available to assist throughout the mall’s operating hours.
Commitment to Total Mobility Solution
“Providing Total Mobility Solutions, TAM is committed to building the Toyota xEV Ecosystem,” stated Hiroyuki Oide, Marketing Director of PT Toyota Astra Motor (TAM). “Our charging spots are widely spread, from Toyota outlets in urban locations to large shopping centers and toll road rest areas, supporting both short-distance and long-distance mobility. These facilities enhance the cruising range of Toyota and Lexus BEVs and PHEVs, promoting widespread adoption of electrified vehicles and reducing carbon emissions.”
