As is revealed by MG Motor Indonesia-the British automobile brand, really massive plans for the Indonesian auto sector in 2025 is underway. The company declared that the new models of technology innovation and expansion towards electric vehicles and hybrid products will be the new departure for the company. However, the company will set its sights on sustainable mobility, along with versatile car lines, as the growth pillars. He Guowei, Chief Executive Officer at MG Motor Indonesia, mentioned the launching and told how MG is in a process of giving shape to the Indonesian automotive industry.
MG4 EV Upgraded: Enhanced Battery for Longer Range
MG has announced MG4 EV which is one step ahead to the already launched electric vehicle that the brand is currently promoting. He Guowei confirmed the 2025 model that would feature a 64 kW battery capacity, improving it from the current 51 kW. He didn’t entirely disclose information on the new MG4 EV’s mileage, but the current range is very impressive at 425 km as measured by the NEDC standard.

The electric mobility solutions provided by MG for customers will be practical and environment-friendly. The enhancement of its battery for MG4 EV is likely to lift the range with more appeal for long-range drives but still within the brand messages of efficiency and performance.
MG5 GT Facelift: 2025 Edition
Apart from the electric version, the company also declared that the facelift version of the popular MG5 GT sedan would be ready soon. In fact, this new version is considered more refined in design as compared to the previous model. However, its length is higher than the length of the former. Consequently, passengers enjoy more interior space to create comfort both for the driver and passengers.
The interior of the MG5 GT facelift will feature a lot of novelties as well. There is a fully renewed cockpit which consists of two screens, one for the head unit and the other for the instrument panel. With this, users will be able to access entertainment content as well as important vehicle data. Most of its functions have controls integrated into the head unit, and it definitely makes the design of the dashboard much simpler.
New models at GIIAS 2025
In its stride to innovate, MG aims to showcase more models at GIIAS 2025. These will include the latest updates of the MG5 GT and new SUVs that the company believes will be more alternatives for Indonesian consumers. Although details about the versions are yet to be provided, it can be understood that MG would want to fill the gap in the SUV segment as the segment remains highly popular in Indonesia.
PHEV and MPV to Enhance the Offering of MG
MG’s other plans for 2025 comprise the introduction of a PHEV, likely through the MG S5. As part of a broader group strategy to cater to customers desiring alternatives to traditional internal combustion engine vehicles but requiring hybrid efficiency, this strategy is set in motion.
On top of all this, the company also plans to make inroads in the MPV (Multi-Purpose Vehicle) space, though specific models available and whether BEV or ICE variants are unknown at the moment. However, in Indonesia, as a country that is increasingly seeking MPVs, families as well as businesses appreciate its space and flexibility.
