Marking 35 Years of the Iconic MX-5
Mazda rolled out this edition to honor 35 years since the MX-5 first showed up at the 1989 Chicago Auto Show.
“To honor this milestone, we’re thrilled to unveil the Mazda MX-5 35th Anniversary Edition so Indonesian buyers can get behind the wheel of this legendary car,” said Ricky Thio, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of EMI, at the launch event in Jakarta on Friday March 14, 2025.
Ricky noted that the MX-5 is a special car maker of Mazda because it was the first one to represent the Jinba-Ittai concept, which is the brand’s philosophy of finding the perfect balance between the driver and the car. According to the name that was mentioned for the first time, Tetsu Kasahara mentioned Jinba-Ittai, which focused on building a harmony between the car and the driver and took the lead in introducing Mazda’s vision of vehicle development, and up to date remains the guiding principle of the company in its vehicle R&D process.
Only Five Units Available in Indonesia
Since it is a very limited model, just five units of the MX-5 35th Anniversary Edition will be offered in Indonesia.
“Currently, one has already been bought, so there are only four left,” Ricky contributed.

No Changes in Performance
Mechanical-wise, nothing has been altered in the MX-5 35th Anniversary Edition, maintaining its treasure-like performance and driving dynamics.
Being hardly accessible and differing from other versions with its special features, this edition is the ace of the sleeve for Mazda MX-5 lovers in Indonesia.
