The fifth Maxi Yamaha Day 2024 brought excitement to the loyal riders, and it was an adventure that took place in South Sulawesi. After successful events in areas such as Banten, Yogyakarta, Balikpapan, and Malang, this year’s event swept the breathtaking Puncak Lolai in North Toraja, where over 700 Yamaha enthusiasts were gathered to experience the adrenaline-pumping riding-camping action, with a theme which embodies the rich, peculiar beauty of the Torajan culture: “The Magical of Tanah Toraja.”
This is the fourth time I have attended Maxi Yamaha Day, and riding through Toraja has been the most memorable experience due to the challenging and scenic roads

The Magical Experience in Tanah Toraja
With a rich cultural ethos and mother nature’s marvels, Toraja is an ideal venue for Yamaha’s fun-filled riding event. To add pride, Puncak Lolai has been termed ‘Negeri di Atas Awan’ or, in English, ‘Land Above the Clouds.’ A place that offers participants a spectacular setting, a bonus adding magic to the themed event.
The passion for adventure mixed with the local culture was reflected in every ethnic ornamentation present around the event venue, and that is what Yamaha Maxi Day is all about. Booth and tent designs combined the wooden structure and stones, inspired by Toraja’s Passura Toraja carvings, highlighting the architecture of a traditional home where people in Toraja live.
Toraja’s surroundings highlighted its natural beauty-Enrekang, Rantekombal, and Latimojong ranges. The essence of riding through the winding roads of Toraja heightened participants’ connection of nature, culture, and riding.
The Journey of Yamaha Riders from Various Cities
The trip to Puncak Lolai wasn’t about arriving at the destination; it was an adventure from the very beginning of long-distance touring. More than 700 riders started their journeys from four different cities, representing several Yamaha models such as Aerox, Nmax, and Xmax. Each group travelled through hundreds of kilometers of mountainous areas before they finally ascended into the cloud-kissed Puncak Lolai.

Nature in Toraja with beautiful scenery combined with the enjoyment of riding a Yamaha motorcycle, especially an Nmax TURBO, will never be forgotten.
A Day Full of Adventure and Fun Activities
The participants, upon their arrival at Puncak Lolai, were welcomed with traditional South Sulawesi dances and community games, adding a degree of cultural immersion into the event. These were reinvented games which would help knit the participants together and make the experience not purely a ride but also one which made the bonds within the Yamaha community even closer.
A local modifier competition was done wherein enthusiasts showed their creativity in modifying Yamaha Maxi series motorcycles. Unique custom designs that underline special features of their motorcycles were the crowd’s favorite, adding competitiveness to the merriment.
Looking Ahead: More Excitement for Yamaha Riders
Maxi Yamaha Day 2024 in Toraja is just one stop in the series of activities that are planned this year. The party goes on, on September 14-15, 2013, at Singkawang, where riders from North Kalimantan would get their chance to experience the energy and fellowship that goes with Maxi Yamaha Day. A call is hereby extended to riders in the vicinity of Singkawang and North Kalimantan to join the ride and spend the fun of riding their beloved Yamaha machines amidst beautiful Indonesian landscapes
