Hyundai Prepares to Launch New Car Models in Indonesia by End of 2024

Surabaya – Anticipating a competitive automotive market in Indonesia in the coming years, PT Hyundai Motors Indonesia (HMID) has planned to launch several new cars by the end of 2024. Strikingly, the year is quickly coming to an end, and yet, HMID plans to release three models more in Indonesia. 

The announcement was made at the 2024 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show, GIIAS, in Surabaya, and Fransiscus Soerjopranoto, HMID’s Chief Operating Officer or COO, provided a hint on the releases that will take place. “A minimum of three models. There are hybrids, cars with internal combustion engines ICE, and electric vehicles, he stated.

New Hyundai Models: A Glimpse into What to Expect

Until today, there have been five new Hyundai model launches in 2024: Hyundai Ioniq 5 Batik Edition, Creta Alpha, Palisade XRT, All-New Kona Electric, and the Ioniq 5 N. However, and with this year closing soon, Hyundai Indonesia has given some hints for three more models yet to be launched. By speculation, that may include the trio of Hyundai Tucson, Santa Fe, and Venue.

While Fransiscus Soerjopranoto-cum-Soerjo himself has avoided confirmation of such speculation, he has been teasing the market with statements to suggest that more exciting things are in store. “As I said, many of the models that we will bring in are still under study. Yes, just wait,” he said. “Don’t worry, we are still bringing new products. There will be some in the near future,” he continued.

GIIAS Surabaya 2024 Highlights

HMID was the star in GIIAS Surabaya 2024 with some of the best displays including launching two electric vehicles: the All-New Hyundai Kona Electric and Ioniq 5 N. These two electric vehicles already reaped maximal interest in Jakarta and its satellite cities and are now on sale throughout Indonesia.

Therefore, the all-new Kona Electric features on the historic board of Indonesia’s automotive history because of its domestically produced battery as the first electric car. The production of the questioned batteries has been made by PT HLI Green Power, an investment which has started production on July 3, 2024.

All that is added to by the launch of the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N, incidentally the first high-performance electric vehicle in Indonesia. This model is also the first introduction of the Hyundai N Brand in the Indonesian market and at the same time the very first N model offered to local consumers.

The Ioniq 5 N is fitted with the latest features to enhance the driving experience. It includes N Grin Boost, N Launch Control, N Drift Optimizer, and N Race-all are set for better control and quicker response for an exciting drive. Locally manufactured in Cikarang, West Java, Ioniq 5 N is a perfect blend of advanced technology with high-performance engineering.
