Chery announced a big one at the 2025 Shanghai Auto Show on April 25, 2025, at the National Exhibition and Convention Center in Shanghai, China. The automaker unveiled the Himla, a double cabin pickup, as part of its extended lineup.
Also a part of Chery’s go getter in the multipurpose vehicle and light commercial vehicle segments is the Chery Himla. After doing well with sedans and SUVs Chery is now into the pickup truck market with this new model which we see as reliable, efficient and environment friendly.

Key Highlights of the Chery Himla

- The Himla features a rugged, futuristic design with key elements like a closed grille, horizontal LED DRLs, and a muscular body.
- The spacious rear bed and inward-facing LED taillights add a modern touch.
- Performance
- The Himla will offer two engine versions: diesel and hybrid, though Chery has not fully revealed the technical specifications yet.
- Chery designed the vehicle to perform four main roles:
- Loading: Efficiently transporting goods.
- Crossing: Navigating tough terrains.
- Camping: Providing comfortable space for outdoor adventures.
- Towing: Capable of pulling other vehicles.
- Interior
- Inside, the Himla features a spacious cabin with premium materials and a large-screen infotainment system. The vehicle offers excellent connectivity and comfort for passengers and drivers alike.

What Chery’s CEO Says
Chery’s CEO, Shaodong Zhu, proudly introduced the Himla at the Shanghai Auto Show. He said, “Our pickup brand is called Himla, and it can perform all these roles. From mountains to highways, Himla will conquer all terrains and everything.”

Launch Timeline and Market Availability
Although the official release date of the Himla has not been confirmed, Chery has promised that the new models unveiled at the 2025 Shanghai Auto Show will be available by the end of 2025. However, the availability of the Himla in the Indonesian market remains uncertain. Still, Chery’s management has confirmed that this model, along with others from the event, will be launched globally within a year.
