BYD M6 Surprises the Indonesian Market
The BYD M6 surprised the domestic automotive market when it was introduced at the 2025 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS). As the first electric MPV in its class, the M6 gained a lot of attention from Indonesian buyers. Less than a year after its launch, the BYD M6 has become the top-selling electric car in Indonesia.

According to Gaikindo’s wholesale distribution data, 1,674 units of BYD M6 were distributed to dealers from January to February 2025. The Standard type contributed the most, with 811 units sold. The Superior Captain variant followed with 594 units, while the Superior variant had only 269 units distributed.

The BYD M6 is available in three variants, with different price tags:
- BYD M6 Standard – IDR 383 million
- BYD M6 Superior Captain (6-seater) – IDR 433 million
- BYD M6 Superior (7-seater) – IDR 423 million
BYD M6 Battery Options and Range
The BYD M6 uses BYD’s Blade Battery and offers two battery options:
- Standard Type: 55.4 kWh battery with a range of 420 km
- Superior Captain and Superior Types: 71.8 kWh battery with a range of 530 km
BYD M6 Motor and Performance
The BYD M6 is powered by an AC Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor with front-wheel drive. The power output for each variant is:
- M6 Standard: 120 kW
- M6 Superior Captain and Superior: 150 kW
All variants generate 310 Nm of torque and can reach a maximum speed of 180 km/h.
