BYD, the leading Chinese company in auto manufacturing, is venturing big with new high performance electric vehicles and will officially roll out brand Denza in Europe in 2025. This launch represents an important step into high performance electric vehicles where Denza has ambitions to jump right over big name brands like Porsche.
The very first vehicle that will make its way to Europe will be the Denza Z9 GT which is available in both fully electric (EV) and with plug in hybrid (PHEV). The high tech design and performance showcase it aiming straight at the famous Porsche Taycan right now.

Denza’s Global Ambition
Stella Li, Vice President of BYD Auto commented that Denza ambitions to really go big aiming high targets for the best luxury brands in Europe. “Our products are ten times better than competitors,” Li said in an interview to Autocar. Li also stressed Denza’s focus on using clean energy and sustainability. This top brand within its segment first uses efficient and eco friendly powertrains.
Upcoming Lineup Beyond Z9 GT
Following the popular Denza GT, Denza hopes to launch more models in markets around the world. Models lined up are Denza D9, N7 and N9 among others. These vehicles are already available in China but they will definitely increase Denza’s presence further on the global scene.
Denza Z9 GT EV – Performance & Technology
Built on BYD’s advanced e3 platform featuring 800V architecture, the Z9 GT offers:
- Three electric motors
- Combined power output of up to 952 hp
- 0–100 km/h in just 2.9 seconds (EV version)
- 100 kWh Blade Battery
- Up to 629 km range (CLTC cycle)
The design is a sleek wagon body that balances sportiness with practicality. It also features cell-to-body battery integration to improve strength and drivetrain efficiency.

Denza Z9 GT PHEV – Efficient Hybrid Power
The plug-in hybrid version combines:
- 2.0-liter turbo petrol engine (268 hp)
- Dual electric motors (295 hp each)
- Total output: 858 hp
- 0–100 km/h in just 3.6 seconds
- 38.5 kWh battery
- 201 km pure electric range
- Up to 1,100 km combined range
European Launch Timeline
Although the precise launch date is yet to be confirmed, BYD plans to bring the Denza brand to the UK and other European markets during late 2025 or early 2026.
