Jakarta — Neta V-II and VinFast VF 5 are available as two electric cars in the IDR 200 million price range in Indonesia. There are several aspects that potential consumers can pay attention to before making a choice.
The VF 5 itself has greeted Indonesian consumers since it was first exhibited at the 2024 Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS) in February. However, VinFast only announced the selling price in July.
On the other hand, the new V-II was launched in April at the 2024 Periklindo Electric Vehicle Show (PEVS). This car comes as a facelift version of the V model which was previously introduced at the 2023 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS).
Apart from price, these two electric cars have other similarities, for example the body design with Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) nuances with compact dimensions. The cabins also have a 5-seater capacity.
Dimensions
The dimensions of a vehicle are crucial for some groups, especially those who have a limited garage. The body dimensions of these two electric cars are only slightly different.
The VF 5 is known to have a length of 3,967 mm, a width of 1,723 mm, a height of 1,578 mm, and a wheelbase of 2,514 mm. For the legs, 16-inch rims are used.
Meanwhile, the V-II has dimensions of 4,070 mm in length, 1,690 mm in width, 1,540 mm in height, and a wheelbase of 2,420 mm. The rim size it uses is the same as the VF 5.
Motor and Battery
The performance of these two electric cars appears to have different characteristics. The product from VinFast is superior in maximum power while the Neta representative wins in torque.
In more detail, the VF 5 uses one electric motor with a peak power of 100 kW and a maximum torque of 135 Nm. The V-II also uses an electric motor with a peak power of 70 kW, but the maximum torque is greater, 150 Nm.
The electric motor output is channelled to the front wheels of each car. Another similarity between the VF 5 and V-II is that they both use Lithium Ferro Phosphate (LFP) batteries.
In this case, the V-II may be superior because it has a larger battery capacity, 36.1 kWh. This battery is claimed to be able to carry the V-II up to 384 km (NEDC test) on one charge.
Meanwhile, according to the official website, the VF 5 carries a 31.2 kWh battery which is claimed to have a maximum range of around 260 km (NEDC test).
The interesting thing is, the VF 5 and V-II already support fast charging.
Price of Neta V-II and VinFast VF 5
VinFast recently announced the official price of the VF 5 which is priced at IDR 310 million including the battery. However, consumers also have the option to buy without a battery at a cheaper price, IDR 242 million.
If you choose the second option, this means that consumers will have to subscribe to the battery with a choice of packages priced at IDR 990 thousand per month (maximum 1,500 km), IDR 1,415 million per month (maximum 3,000 km), and IDR 2,360 million per month (above 3,000 km).
Meanwhile, the V-II was observed to be selling for IDR 299 million.
Choosing Between Neta V-II and VinFast VF 5
Potential buyers have a lot to consider when choosing between the Neta V-II and VinFast VF 5. While both cars offer modern designs and competitive pricing, their performance, battery capacities, and dimensions may sway a buyer’s decision.
Design and Dimensions
Both cars sport an SUV-inspired design, appealing to those looking for a compact yet robust vehicle. The VF 5’s dimensions make it slightly more compact in width and height compared to the V-II, which could be an advantage for those with limited parking space. The V-II, however, offers a bit more length, potentially providing extra interior space.
Motor Performance and Battery Life
The VinFast VF 5 stands out with its higher peak power of 100 kW, making it a more powerful option compared to the Neta V-II’s 70 kW motor. On the other hand, the V-II’s greater torque (150 Nm) compared to the VF 5 (135 Nm) might provide a better acceleration experience.
In terms of battery capacity, the Neta V-II takes the lead with a 36.1 kWh battery, allowing for a longer range of up to 384 km on a single charge. The VF 5, with its 31.2 kWh battery, offers a range of around 260 km. Both cars support fast charging, making them convenient for long-distance travel.
Price Considerations
Price is always a critical factor. The VF 5 is priced at IDR 310 million with the battery included, but offers a more budget-friendly option at IDR 242 million without the battery. This flexible pricing could attract buyers who prefer lower upfront costs and are comfortable with a subscription model for the battery.
The Neta V-II is slightly cheaper at IDR 299 million. This all-inclusive price might appeal to those who prefer a straightforward purchase without additional monthly costs.
