Jakarta, Indonesia – Shell Indonesia has officially introduced the Shell Advance City Scooter Oil, specially designed for automatic motorcycles, which dominate the Indonesian two-wheeler market.
According to Andri Pratiwa, Managing Director of Lubricants at Shell Indonesia, automatic motorbikes make up about 90% of the 6 million motorcycles sold in Indonesia last year. This growing segment requires premium quality lubricants tailored to their needs.
“The demand for quality lubricants is rising as the number of automatic motorcycle users increases. Shell Advance City Scooter is created to provide the best riding experience for these users,” said Andri during the launch event in Jakarta on June 17, 2025.

The new lubricant is a 100% synthetic oil made using Gas To Liquids (GTL) base oil, enhanced with Shell’s advanced PurePlus technology. This combination ensures:

- Resistance to engine wear and overheating even in heavy stop-and-go traffic
Real-World Testing in Indonesia
Shell Indonesia’s technical head, Shofwatuzakki, shared that the lubricant has undergone thorough field tests involving dozens of automatic motorcycle users.
“Even after daily rides covering 150 km over two months with frequent stop-and-go traffic, motorcycles using Shell Advance City Scooter showed no signs of engine wear or overheating,” he said.

Shell Advance City Scooter comes in two viscosity grades:
- 10W-40
- 10W-30
These grades are formulated for automatic motorcycles with engine capacities of 125cc and above. Shofwatuzakki added that the lubricant fits a wide range of models, as some automatic motorbikes require 10W-30 oil, while others need 10W-40.

The lubricant is priced competitively at Rp. 70,000 to Rp. 80,000 per liter, making it an economical choice for automatic motorcycle owners searching for quality engine protection.
