PT Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indonesia (TMMIN) is due to break a record this year which it is to put out 3 million cars from the Indonesian plant. That mark is looked to be hit in the second half of 2025.

Toyota Indonesia has already exported over 2.8 million units. The 3 million units milestone is likely to be reached by September or October 2025.

History of Toyota Indonesia Exports

- Toyota began exporting fully built units (CBU) in 1987 with the Kijang model shipped to Brunei Darussalam.
- In 2004 TMMIN which became the production base for the IMV platform that started with the Kijang Innova.
- Toyota’s export volume went from 7,000 units per year in 2004 to 100,000 units annually by 2012.
- By 2016 monthly exports had hit 12,000 units which is 85% of Indonesia’s total CBU exports.
- In 2018 Toyota celebrated exporting 1 million units which confirmed its leadership in Indonesia’s automotive industry.
- The 2 million units export mark was hit in 2022 which also saw expansion into Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Asia Pacific, Africa, and Latin America.

Key Models Driving Export Growth
Toyota exports a range of models including Fortuner, Innova, Vios, and Yaris. The introduction of electrified hybrid vehicles has played an important role in export growth.
- Since 2022, Toyota has exported hybrid models like the Kijang Innova Zenix and Yaris Cross.
