Chinese technology giant Xiaomi is preparing to announce yet another giant step in the electric vehicle (EV) industry. The innovative technology product manufacturer is bracing to unveil its second electric vehicle, an SUV, on a global stage during a huge technology press conference slated for October 2024. Dubbed the MX11, the new electric model represents Xiaomi’s continued effort in boosting its voice in the global EV market.
The MX11, recently caught by the lens testing in the street of China, has a sporty look that indicates high dynamism in the car. Although heavily camouflaged in street tests, the design of the SUV is already being compared to luxury models such as the Ferrari Purosangue. The new electric SUV will be fully revealed without disguise in its final form during the October event, with deliveries in 2025.
Xiaomi’s EV vision is part of its larger agenda to diversify its product portfolio further away from smartphones and consumer electronics. A well-received first ever EV model had paved the way fo this upcoming SUV. Media works and Carnewschina reports the MX11 SUV to be competing with high-level players of electric vehicles, including Tesla.
The second product from Xiaomi in the electric vehicle category will be assembled in Beijing, following the completion of the second phase of that Yizhuang assembly plant. With an annual capacity of close to 300,000 units, this spells a seed of industrial giant ambition to Xiaomi. The first phase’s capacity will be 150,000 units annually, with the second one expected to double the same by the year 2025 end.
In the development process of the new MX11, Xiaomi had allegedly benchmarked its new SUV against the Tesla models; hence, one can say that the brand is trying to establish itself to compete at the highest level with the new product in the electric vehicle market. Not only does the MX11 inclusion strengthen Xiaomi’s product offering, but it also cements the brand’s huge role during a time when the globe is moving toward electric mobility.
