JAKARTA – Royal Enfield, in collaboration with AMS Garage, showcased the first Phoenix customized motorcycle at the 2024 Customfest which was held on October 5-6 at Jogja Expo Center (JEC Hall), Yogyakarta, Indonesia. The Phoenix, a customized Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650, actually represents the unique style of AMS Garage and is directed towards the sensibilities of traditional “Bagger” concepts. This is the quintessential example of an artistic talent that truly flourishes within Indonesia’s buzzing custom culture.
Phoenix, inspired by Greek mythology, symbolizes the revival of classic designs through modern craftsmanship, setting a new standard in motorcycle customization.
The Phoenix: Example Masterpiece Of Custom Craftsmanship
A Unique Custom by AMS Garage
The custom motorcycle somehow expresses the creativity of Indonesia in the culture of custom motorcycles, imagined based on inspiration by the more traditional “Bagger” style. Royal Enfield and AMS Garage had put in a lot of work for the creation of this motorcycle based on the Super Meteor 650. Each detail of the frame has been painstakingly reworked, thereby making it showcase quite a fragile yet intricate craftsmanship and character that only AMS Garage could probably come out with.
“There is a very creative ecosystem for custom here in Indonesia, and it’s provided the perfect opportunity for Royal Enfield to push for boundaries of what can be done on our motorbikes,” said Adrian Sellers, Head of Custom & Motorsport at Royal Enfield.

Technical Customizations and Style Elements
It is one of its kind because it was specifically designed with particular technical specifications. The front suspension is built from scratch, for the first time, and it has been integrated with an air suspension system. This goes a long way in maintaining the characteristic long and low stance typical of the traditional Bagger concept. On the other hand, the hardtail style of the frame has given prominence to the “chopper” details, which increase the bike‘s traditional impression.
The tank is covered, as well as the saddle bag, rear fender, and just about every other possible aspect of the aluminum bodywork, all shine with heavy expertise of the AMS Garage, that makes the Phoenix stand from the crowd, represents a perfect identity forged out of creative collaboration between Royal Enfield and AMS Garage.
The “Meaning of “Phoenix”
The name “Phoenix” is a term borrowed from Greek mythology, which highlights rebirth and renewal. This is apt for the motorcycle because it’s a rebirth of Royal Enfield’s classic styling perception interpreted in contemporary terms. Partnering with AMS Garage demonstrates commitment by Royal Enfield toward the custom motorcycling community in Indonesia.
Royal Enfield’s Long-term Vision
Launching Phoenix at Customfest 2024 would be one big milestone in Royal Enfield’s interactions with the local custom motorcycle scene. According to Adrian Sellers, “Our long-term commitment to Customfest forms part of the Royal Enfield program to help Indonesian para builders, who can inspire both builders and communities in furthering their ideas, as well as inspiring the locals and other two-wheeled fans.” This statement shows how devoted Royal Enfield is towards fostering growth and support for Indonesia’s emerging custom motorcycle culture.
Other Custom Showcases by Royal Enfield
Besides Phoenix, Royal Enfield showcased some more custom builds through Customfest 2024, the iconic ‘Thanks’ by Thrive – an artistic piece that is inspired with gratitude towards the heritage of Royal Enfield and ‘Classic 500 Bobber’ by Smoked Garage-the transformation of the Classic 500, done with a sleek bobber style.
“Trackmaster” and “Elenor Tracker” by Frontwheels Garage: This is even more rough-and-tumble, sport-oriented customing.
These customs represent the most important part of the Royal Enfield ethos – exploration and creativity. Each one of these customs is an inspiration to the large two-wheeled fraternity and a reminder of the infinite possibilities of creativity imbued with craftsmanship.
What is Customfest 2024?
Customfest is perhaps the most important event organized by custom motorcycles in Indonesia, and this time was no exception. On this participation and presentation of the latest works of Royal Enfield, it showed continued support for Indonesian custom builders. The Customfest then served as a good platform for showing innovations that portrayed culture about motorcycle customization and enhanced the dreams of enthusiast’s customs.
Customfest isn’t just an exhibition; it’s just a melting pot of people who appreciate the art of customization of the motorcycle. Such events provide motorcycle enthusiasts with a chance to see what’s possible when sufficient creativity and technical know-how are applied, pushing the motorcycles as both a vehicle and an instrument of art collectively.
