Tangerang – PT Krama Yudha Tiga Berlian Motors (KTB) has officially introduced the Mitsubishi Fuso eCanter electric truck at the 2024 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS). The unveiling of this electric truck has already made it a highlight at the Mitsubishi Fuso booth on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at ICE, BSD, Tangerang.
Karl Deppen, CEO of Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation, highlighted the eCanter’s advantages in terms of operational efficiency. “eCanter offers low operating costs and minimal maintenance,” he stated during the launch event.
Key Features and Specifications
The Mitsubishi Fuso eCanter showcased at GIIAS 2024 is equipped with an 83 kWh battery, providing a range of 140 km on a single charge. The electric truck boasts a Gross Vehicle Mass (GVM) of 6 tons, a maximum power output of 148 hp, and a peak torque of 390 Nm. It can reach a top speed of 89 km/h.
One of the key innovations in the eCanter is the eAxle drive system, which integrates the axle, gearbox, motor, and inverter, distributing power efficiently to the rear wheels. The truck’s compact design features a 3.4-meter wheelbase, making it suitable for various commercial applications.
Advanced Safety and Comfort Features
The eCanter is packed with advanced safety features, including an electronic stability program (ESP), lane departure warning system (LDWS), and an acoustic vehicle alert system (AVAS). Additionally, the truck is equipped with intelligent headlight control (IHC) and a rear camera to enhance visibility during parking.
Aji Jaya, Sales and Marketing Director of KTB, emphasized the truck’s driver-friendly features. “This product is equipped with advanced features. Even the cabin rearview mirror is integrated with the rear camera,” he explained.
Mitsubishi eCanter Dealer
Currently, the eCanter will be available at three official Mitsubishi dealers in the Jabodetabek area: Dipo Internasional Pahala Otomotif, Srikandi Diamond Motor, and Sun Star Motor. Although the truck is now officially on sale, the exact pricing details have not been disclosed. “The prices vary, depending on the needs and packages chosen by consumers,” Aji noted.
Despite the limited initial availability, KTB guarantees the provision of spare parts for the eCanter. The company has also established robust after-sales support, including cabin and chassis repair services, five 24-hour standby workshops in Jabodetabek, and mobile workshop services. “We present after-sales services as a form of innovation in the commercial vehicle industry to meet consumer needs,” said Daisuke Okamoto, President Director of KTB.
Mitsubishi Fuso’s Broader Showcase at GIIAS 2024
In addition to the eCanter, Mitsubishi Fuso displayed seven other vehicles at GIIAS 2024, showcasing a diverse range of their offerings. The Fuso eCanter, however, has been a recurring feature at various automotive exhibitions prior to this official launch. According to Bayu Aprizal’s statement at GIIAS 2022, the delay in the official launch and sales was due to ongoing studies regarding the viability of the technology in Indonesia and the necessary infrastructure support.
A Strategic Move for a Sustainable Future
The introduction of the Mitsubishi Fuso eCanter at GIIAS 2024 marks a significant step for KTB in aligning with global trends towards sustainable and eco-friendly transportation solutions. The eCanter’s low operating costs, minimal maintenance requirements, and advanced safety features position it as an attractive option for businesses looking to reduce their carbon footprint while maintaining efficiency.
Mitsubishi Fuso’s strategic focus on the Indonesian market, despite the initial limited availability of the eCanter, reflects the company’s commitment to expanding its electric vehicle lineup and meeting the growing demand for sustainable transportation solutions. The company’s efforts to ensure robust after-sales support and the availability of spare parts further underline its dedication to customer satisfaction and long-term service reliability.
