Chery the main automotive player out of China is seeing great expansion in the home and international markets. In 2024 the company hit several key milestones which we see as the base for even more aggressive goals in the years to come.
Chery’s Executive Vice President of Chery International and CEO of Chery Brand, Shaodong Zhu, highlighted the company’s impressive performance: “We have again recorded outstanding performance in 2024. Chery achieved 3 No. 1 positions. First, sales reached 640,000 units sold last year. Exports of the SUV segment, and won the highest award ‘Best Canada Brand‘ in the global category for the second year.”

- Leadership in Exports of SUVs: Chery maintains leadership in SUV exports, highlighting its extensive global presence.
- Award Honour: For the second year in a row, Chery won the ‘Best Canada Brand’ award, which is a distinguished honour in the world’s auto industry.
The success of Chery is not only confined to sales. Chery has also progressed well towards its goal of spreading its influence to new markets, such as Europe.

Expansion into New Markets
- Market entry in Europe: Chery has managed to penetrate the European market through its first joint venture in Spain, further consolidating its role as a global automobile player.
- Future Growth Plans: Chery plans to do even better in the years to come, with an objective of selling 1 million units in two years‘ time. Shaodong Zhu was also optimistic about Chery’s goals, commenting, “Though there are a lot of difficulties, we believe that we can make sales of 1 million units in 2 years. This goal is a direct challenge from Mr. Gong.”
To achieve this ambitious objective, Chery has laid down three major strategic steps:
- Branding: Chery will continue to be the first choice for families and target to rank within the top 10 car brands in the world.
- Global Expansion: Chery will continue to grow globally with emphasis on establishing R&D, production, and spare parts bases in strategic areas.
- Product Innovation: Chery will remain innovation-focused by utilizing electrification and artificial intelligence technologies. The company will further diversify its product portfolio to cover MPVs and pickups.
