BYD Seal 05 DM-I Registered in Indonesia
The drawing of the BYD Seal 05 DM-I is found in official Industrial Design News No.12/DI/2025, published by the Directorate of Copyright and Industrial Design. The document features a sedan that is registered under the name BYD Company Limited, Shenzhen, China. The design matches the BYD Seal 05 DM-I, which was recently launched in China. This plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) is priced at around IDR 200 million in China.
Luther Panjaitan, Head of PR & Government Relations at PT BYD Motor Indonesia, commented on the registration. He stated that BYD registers its products early to protect intellectual property and prevent unauthorized claims. He added that while registration is a priority, the decision to launch a product in Indonesia depends on market studies and acceptance.

BYD’s Strategy for the Indonesian Market
BYD is diversifying its electric and hybrid models in Indonesia. The Seal 05 DM-I would be a rival to hybrid sedans such as the Toyota Camry Hybrid and Honda Accord Hybrid. When launched, its price in Indonesia might be slightly higher than that in China owing to taxes and import levies.
BYD has not announced a launch date yet, but the patent registration shows that the company is interested in entering the Indonesian market. As demand for hybrid cars continues to rise, the BYD Seal 05 DM-I may prove to be a desirable choice for Indonesian consumers seeking an advanced and fuel-efficient hybrid sedan.
