South Korean auto company KG Mobility which is into manufacturing SsangYong cars reports that they have entered into a partnership with PT Pindad the state run defense company of Indonesia. This partnership is of a joint development of vehicles which sees KG Mobility supply the SsangYong Rexton as knock down kits (KD kits). It is expected that Pindad will use these kits to produce the Maung vehicle.

Increased KD Kit Exports to Indonesia in 2025
In 2024 KG Mobility reports to have shipped out 1,060 units of the SsangYong Rexton to Indonesia. From that success the company will see to it that we ship out 3,000 units in 2025 which is a clear sign of our confidence in the Indonesian automotive market.
Official Signing Ceremony in Bandung
The collaboration agreement was officially signed on May 8, 2025, at PT Pindad’s headquarters in Bandung, Indonesia. The signing ceremony was attended by important figures from both companies, including:
- Kwak Jea-sun (Chairman of KG Mobility)
- Hwang Ki-young (CEO of KG Mobility)
- Kim Jong-hyun (CEO of KGMC)
- Sigit P. Santosa (CEO of PT Pindad)
- Kim Jea-moo (CEO of Two Sun Engineering)

SsangYong’s Global Reputation and Market Strategy
KG Mobility’s Chairman, Dr. Kwak Jea-sun brought up that SsangYong has very strong global reputation. The Musso Sports and Rexton models which the company produces have been put into service as government vehicles in the like of the UK, Bulgaria and Peru which testifies to their reliable performance.
Also he brought out that Indonesia is the largest car market in Southeast Asia. The country’s growth which is very fast makes it a key market for us. We at KG Mobility are putting in place to increase our sales by coming out with different products and we are also tailoring our strategies to the specific requirements of the Indonesian market.
