Gaikindo Chairperson Highlights the Special Features of GIIAS Surabaya 2024

Surabaya —In the last year, the 2024 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show in Surabaya experiences a significant difference. Unlike previous GIIAS series, GIIAS The Series 2024 in Tangerang gives the impression of extemporaneousness and being game-changing, which drives this automotive exhibition to set a new benchmark. Having successfully convened in BSD, Tangerang, GIIAS The Series 2024 proceeds to Surabaya intending to contribute to creating a special moment for the space and the automotive industry in Indonesia.

Officially opening to the public on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, GIIAS Surabaya 2024 now greets the world with larger exhibition space and more participants compared to previous years, not to mention a collection of new and exciting vehicles on display. The event was graced by several invitees, such as Yohannes Nangoi, Chairman of Gaikindo; Rizwan Alamsyah, Chairman of the Gaikindo Exhibition Organizing Committee; Putu Juli Ardika, Acting Director General of ILmate Metal, Machinery, Transportation Equipment, and Electronics Industry of the Ministry of Industry; Danto Restyawan, Director of Road Transportation Facilities of the Ministry of Transportation; and Adhy Karyono, Acting Governor of East Java.

Yohannes Nangoi said in his opening speech, “This year is a series of events taking place for the ninth occasion in Surabaya and is the face of an almost decade-long presentation to show the development of the national automotive industry to the people of East Java. ‘This year’s GIIAS Surabaya is different and special due to increased exhibition space and a large hike in participants registered,’ he said.

GIIAS Surabaya 2024 is a landmark event, marking nearly a decade of showcasing automotive industry progress. Surabaya exhibition spans over 13,000 square meters, largest exhibition space to date and a record 34 motor vehicle brands participating.

    Yohannes Nangoi

He further explained that the 2024 GIIAS Surabaya exhibition occupies an area of more than 13,000 square meters – the largest exhibition ever held in Surabaya. “This year, we also set a record for the number of participants, whereby 34 brands of motor vehicles are on show,” Yohannes Nangoi added.

     Impressive Lineup of Exhibitors

It features 34 brands in its roster, including 20 passenger vehicle brands: Audi, BYD, Chery, Citroen, Daihatsu, DFSK, Honda, Hyundai, KIA, Lexus, Mazda, MG, Mitsubishi Motors, Nissan, Seres, Suzuki, Toyota, VinFast, Volkswagen, and Wuling. To complement these two commercial vehicle brands are DFSK and Toyota Commercial.

Which is followed by 12 motorcycle brands with their various latest products, such as Alva, Aprilia, Benelli, Keeway, Kupprum, Moto Guzzi, Piaggio, Polytron, Royal Enfield, United E-motor, Vespa, and Volta. Meanwhile, other industrial supporting brands reach more than 15 in number. This will no doubt give visitors a comprehensive experience of the automotive world.

    Bigger Scope, Wider Reach

This year’s event is the biggest and most complete ever, fully oriented to bring the best experience to its visitors. The expanded premises for the exhibition area can now house a wider variety of displays and activities being hosted, adding the interest and intellectual appeal of the event. The wider range of the exhibitors also reflects rapidly growing diversity and innovation within Indonesia‘s automotive industry.

The series of GIIAS exhibitions will bring to life the Gaikindo mission of unfolding the best achievement of the Indonesian automotive industry, and at the same time being the catalyst for it. “We believe that [with] more space and [the great number of] participants joining, GIIAS Surabaya 2024 will bring excellent results in contributing to the increase in the national automotive industry this year,” said Nangoi.

Support from Government and Industry Leaders

Also in hand, he said, he also received appreciation for the high level of enthusiasm and continued support from the Ministry of Industry, the Ministry of Transportation, as well as the East Java provincial government. He deeply stated that the exhibition required such good support that the first GIIAS Surabaya could proceed and conclude well and smoothly according to the goals that had been planned before. “We hope that the 2024 GIIAS Surabaya exhibition will not experience any obstacles and produce good results,” he concluded.

GIIAS Surabaya 2024 will be held from August 28 to September 1, 2024, around the Grand City Convex, promising to host five successive days of action-packed excitement. With an expanded scope, more participants, and a host of exciting exhibits, it will be the talk of town and come to the attention of legions of regional automotive enthusiasts and industry professionals alike.
