Chinese automaker Xpeng has officially launched its latest flagship electric vehicle, the Xpeng X9. This all-electric 7-seater MPV marks a major milestone in the company’s global expansion strategy, and is set to compete in the growing electric vehicle market worldwide.

A New Flagship for Xpeng

Xpeng Chairman and CEO Xiaopeng He made the announcement that the X9 is their first global market-designed flagship model. During the “Xpeng Global Brand Night 2025” event in Hong Kong on April 15, He indicated that the X9 will go on sale in the European market during the second half of 2025.
“This is our first flagship model for the global market, and we plan to launch it worldwide,” said Xiaopeng.
Upgrades and Improvements
The new X9 is not only a restyling of its predecessor, but a totally overhauled model with major upgrades focused on driving comfort. As Xiaopeng explains, the X9 has been improved in 496 parts, making it smarter and more comfortable than ever.
Key Features
Among the most significant developments in the new X9 is the absence of LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) technology from the previous models. In its stead, Xpeng included the Turing AI Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) as a default feature. This gives way to an upgraded and more secure system for better driving.
Other striking amenities are a 10.8-liter fridge, a 220V electrical outlet, and a karaoke system ready for entertainment—ideal for passengers to enjoy a more pleasurable journey.

Dimensions and Space
The X9 also has the similar footprint as before but they improved the room inside. We see here that at 5,293 mm in length, 1,988 mm wide and 1.785 tall and a wheelbase which has gone out to 3,160 mm, which in turn presents 50/50 – 7 passenger fit, so if you have a family who likes to travel in style and comfort there’s no better option.
Battery and Range
The X9 presents your 2 choices for battery. In the long range variant we see a 94.8 kWh battery which reports a range of up to 650 km according to the China Light-Duty Vehicle Test Cycle (CLTC). For the greater range option in the higher end variants we see a 105 kWh battery which does very well at 702 to 740 km (CLTC).
Variants and Pricing
The Xpeng X9 will be available in four variants, each offering different ranges and performance levels. Here are the prices for the Chinese market:
- Long Range Max (650 km range) – 359,800 yuan (approximately IDR 828 million)
- Ultra Long Range Max (740 km range) – 379,800 yuan (approximately IDR 874 million)
- AWD Performance Max (702 km range) – 399,800 yuan (approximately IDR 920 million)
- Starship Edition (702 km range) – 419,800 yuan (approximately IDR 966 million)
Competition in the Electric MPV Market
The X9, with which Xpeng is preparing to compete with other electric MPVs such as the Denza D9 and Zeekr 009, has in it a combination of sophisticated technology, high range, and luxury features, making it a major player among the rapidly expanding electric car market.
