Interview with Gilakunters
Autoini team member Vineet Goyal had the opportunity to chat with Gilakunters about his riding routine and experiences in Jakarta’s biking culture.
Weekend Rides and Routine
When asked about his Saturday and Sunday rides, Gilakunters shared that the experience is quite similar to biker communities in India. Most riders head out early in the morning in search of a good breakfast spot, where they spend time chatting and sharing updates about their motorcycles.
Ride Duration and Jakarta’s Traffic
Vineet Goyal also asked about the usual ride duration. Gilakunters explained that it depends on the starting location. Morning rides typically last between 20 to 30 minutes, as Jakarta’s traffic has worsened over the years. The heat from the bikes is also a factor, making riders prefer to stop at a café.
Changes Over the Years
Five years ago, Friday night rides were more common, as the streets were much emptier. However, with increasing traffic, many bikers now prefer morning rides to avoid congestion.
Gilakunters Ride: KTM 660
Gilakunters now rides a KTM 660, which is a high-performance motorcycle and suits his taste and the culture of high-performance among the people. His passion for motorcycling and commitment to the Yellowcorn Biker Community demonstrate the strong brotherhood of Jakarta bikers.
