With regard to this, Maxus Indonesia is intensifying the preparations for two upgraded MPV-electric models, the Mifa 7 and Mifa 9. Pre-order sales already started in the Indonesian market and will supposedly hit public release during Gaikindo Jakarta Auto Week 2024. These electric vehicles should propel consumers toward comfort, style, and environmentally friendly driving options.
The market in Indonesia for MPVs is dominant, and Jakarta specifically requires a comfortable MPV. With electric batteries, these cars can bypass the city’s traffic restrictions, making them ideal for the ‘fat market’ here.
Yudhy Tan, COO of Maxus Indonesia
The Chief Operating Officer of Maxus Indonesia, Yudhy Tan, emphasized that the firm is going to continue to cater to the needs of families and executives who need the convenience of electric vehicles in Indonesia. In particular, such well-advertised electric vehicles as Mifa 7 and Mifa 9 will especially meet the needs of Jakarta’s residents who are looking for a comfortable, environmentally-friendly transportation with a proven track record in dealing with the rules of the city, odd-even traffic scheme that makes it highly appealing for daily trips in this megacity.
Targeting the MPV Market in Indonesia
Based on a recent interview with Yudhy, the Indonesian MPV market is booming, and Jakarta’s residents have a higher demand for spacious, comfortable, and reliable vehicles. Through this market with its Mifa 7 and Mifa 9 launches, Maxus is making up for diverse options in meeting the heart of both family-oriented consumers and executives. According to Yudhy, “The market in Indonesia for MPVs is dominant, and Jakarta requires a comfortable MPV. This car with electric batteries will circumvent the city’s traffic restrictions, which makes it ideal for the ‘fat market’ here

Pricing and Availability
Yudhy also confirmed the Mifa 7 would be priced below IDR 1.1 billion, while refusing to disclose the prices of Mifa 7 and Mifa 9. There was no further information on the former’s pricing from the COO. However, he teased regarding a possible GJAW 2024 launch. “So, regarding the price of the Mifa 7, you have to wait until the day of the launch at GJAW 2024,” he joked.
Both the models will be imported as CBUs from China first and Maxus Indonesia can establish quality while rapidly bringing to market these electric MPVs. But Yudhy announced that local production for both models will begin next year, which is an important step for Maxus Indonesia in supporting the domestic manufacture.
