Battery Subscription Scheme Explained
When Vinfast launched in Indonesia, they had a new battery subscription option where you can pay a lower price for the EV and then pay a monthly fee to use the battery instead of the full cost of the EV. In this way, the initial cost of owning an EV is lower.
This was our strategy at the beginning to offer competitive pricing and reduce the upfront cost for customers
Kariyanto Hardjosoemarto, VinFast CEO
Why Did VinFast Remove the Subscription Scheme?
As the EV ecosystem in Indonesia developed and customer confidence increased, VinFast found that it made more sense to sell cars with batteries included. The company believes that full battery ownership benefits both the customer and the brand better in the long run.
Kariyanto said, “With a more complete product lineup and a stronger market presence, we focus on providing vehicles with batteries included instead of offering subscriptions.”

What Happens to Current Battery Subscription Customers?
VinFast encourages existing customers using the battery subscription to switch to full battery ownership. However, if customers prefer to keep the subscription, VinFast will continue to support them according to their original agreements.
