Endurance Test Across 1,377 Km
On February 24, 2025, the Jaecoo J7 SHS began its journey from Jakarta to Bali. The event aimed to prove that with a full 60-liter fuel tank and electric vehicle (EV) mode, the SUV could cover over 1,300 km.
Before departure, preparations included:
- Filling up the fuel tank
- Charging the 18.3 kWh battery
- Normalizing tire pressure to 32 p
Three units of Jaecoo J7 SHS were involved, each with four occupants. The convoy started from Damri SPKLU, Kemayoran, Jakarta, and joined the Trans Java Toll Road.
Driving Conditions & Performance
The air conditioning was left on at 23°C, and drivers observed speed limits (60-100 kph). The cars first drove on EV mode alone, which lasted 120 km—more than the manufacturer’s claim of 100 km. After the battery was drained, the car switched to gasoline mode seamlessly.
Along the way, regenerative braking assisted in recharging the battery, especially on descending roads, to increase the driving range. When the convoy arrived in Surabaya at 23:00 WIB, the trip meter indicated 802 km with a remaining range of 502 km.

Final Stretch to Bali
The second leg was from Surabaya to Bali, through Ketapang Port. Traffic congestion and steep hills impacted fuel economy, but drivers maximized energy efficiency by alternating between EV mode and regenerative charging.
After arriving at Ketapang, the journey of 1,074.3 km had left 224 km to go. After taking a ferry trip to Gilimanuk, Bali, the last ordeal was a rise to Kintamani, where the sharp 18-degree inclines severely taxed fuel use. One of the vehicles reached 1,200 km and then broke down, while the others continued.
Record-Breaking Achievement
As the Jaecoo J7 SHS approached Nusa Dua, regenerative braking also topped up the battery from 35% to 78%, adding range. In the end, the car traveled 1,377.6 km, beating earlier tests in Malaysia (1,353 km) and Jaecoo Indonesia’s in-house test (1,372 km).
