Motorcycle sales in Indonesia during the first quarter of 2025 declined marginally from the corresponding period in 2024. According to data from the Indonesian Motorcycle Industry Association (AISI), the cumulative wholesale sales from January to March 2025 was 1,683,262 units, or 2.9% less than the 1,735,090 units sold in Q1 2024.

March Sales Also Declined
In March 2025 sales fell. That month we saw 541,684 units which is a 6.8% drop from February’s 581,684 units. This month’s drop is part of a trend of decline which in turn reflects that the demand for motorcycles was softer at the start of the year.

Honda Still Shows Positive Growth

Despite the industry’s downturn, PT Astra Honda Motor (AHM), the leading player in Indonesia’s two-wheeler segment, remains optimistic. According to Octavianus Dwi Putro, AHM’s Marketing Director, the company still recorded growth in Q1 2025.
“Until the first quarter, we estimate a slight growth of around 1.5% to 2% compared to the same period last year,” said Octavianus during a press briefing in Jakarta on March 28, 2025.
“In Q1 last year, Honda sold between 1.1 million to 1.6 million units. This year, the figure is slightly higher,” he added.
