PT Suzuki Indomobil Sales (SIS) has officially stopped selling the Suzuki Avenis 125 in Indonesia. The introduction of the scooter has now completely failed as of June 2025. While it appeared that the introduced had some initial promise, it did very not produce significant sales and never took hold in the local competitive scooter space.

Discontinued Quietly After Struggling in Sales
The discontinuation was confirmed by Teuku Agha Alravy, 2W Sales & Marketing Department Head at SIS, who stated:
“Yes, we have discontinued the Suzuki Avenis in 2025. We are shifting our focus toward models that are more accepted in the Indonesian market.”
The model was removed from the Suzuki Indonesia‘s official website on June 3, 2025. The current lineup of Suzuki models released in Indonesia includes the Nex II, Address FI, Burgman Street 125, GSX-R150, GSX-150, Satria F150, V-Strom 250 SX and Gixxer SF 250.
Brief History: From Hopes to Halt
At the 2022 Indonesia Motorcycle Show (IMOS) in October, Suzuki finally introduced their new Suzuki Avenis 125 to Indonesian customers, as the company faces the challenge of competing with the Honda and Yamaha dominance in the 125cc scooter market. Suzuki challenged riders looking for an alternative to Honda and Yamaha scooters by offering sporty and modern styling, modern features, and fuel economy for urban riders – attracting younger consumers.
One major challenge was that the Avenis 125 was a CBU (Completely Built-Up) import from India, unlike competitors that are assembled locally. This affected both its price competitiveness and design compatibility with Indonesian tastes.
Design Compatibility and Rim Size Issue
Aesthetically, the Avenis carried sharp, modern styling cues designed by Suzuki India, but it didn’t fully appeal to Indonesian riders who generally prefer scooters with a more balanced and mature look, as seen in the Honda Vario 125 or Yamaha Lexi.
A commonly reported complaint was the rim size setup:
- Front Rim: 12 inches
- Rear Rim: 10 inches
This smaller rear wheel affected ride comfort and gave the scooter an unbalanced look—factors that likely hurt its market performance.

Performance & Specifications Overview
Despite its modest sales, the Avenis 125 had a decent engine and features on paper:
- Engine: 125cc, SOHC, 2-valve, air-cooled
- Technology: SEP (Suzuki Eco Performance)
- Power Output: 8.6 hp @ 6,750 rpm
- Torque: 10 Nm @ 5,500 rpm
- Transmission: CVT
- Fuel Tank: 5.2 liters
- Seat Height: 780 mm
Its compact body was slightly shorter than its main rivals:
- Length: 1,895 mm
- Width: 710 mm
- Height: 1,175 mm
- Ground Clearance: 160 mm
- Wheelbase: 1,265 mm
The Avenis also featured a USB charging port, external fuel lid, and a large under-seat storage, but these conveniences didn’t convince customers to choose the other options they already knew.

Tough Competition in the 125cc Scooter Segment
The 125cc class in Indonesia is one of the most competitive segments, dominated by:
- Honda Vario 125 – known for reliability, fuel efficiency, and nationwide support
- Yamaha Lexi 125 – part of the MAXI family with a more premium image
These models enjoy strong local brand loyalty, widespread service networks, and attractive resale values—areas where the Avenis fell short.

Suzuki’s Strategic Shift
With the Avenis now discontinued, Suzuki is expected to focus on:
- Strengthening its Nex II and Address FI models for budget-conscious riders
- Promoting the Burgman Street 125 for those wanting a premium scooter
- Pushing forward in the sport and adventure bike segments with GSX, Gixxer, and V-Strom
This move is in line with Suzuki’s strategy to streamline offerings and invest in models that better match Indonesian riders’ preferences and sales potential.
